the movie “An Empty Vessel” and food installation .

Theme of the meeting of two historic capitals, Paris and Nara.

about Movie “An Empty Vessel”

the former capital of Japan, between 710 and 784, and the last leg of the Silk Road.Seeking to associate anthropology and culinary history, Masayo merges the cuisine of different cultures around the world. The “Food Caravan Project” presents this work in pictures.

□ Masayo Funakoshi

Farmoon, Food Caravan Project

Following her studies at Pratt Institute majoring in Sculpture, Funakoshi looked to the culinary arts to express her creativity and soon continued her journey to culinary school in New York. Her craft took her across the world from Europe to Asia after working in New York’s renowned restaurants, Blue Hill and others.

From working as a chef on an Australian cruise ship traveling the Pacific Ocean, to being a chef at an established hotel in Bali. Funakoshi participated in the launch of kiln in Kyoto, serving as the head chef and director.

Currently the representative of “Farmoon” which is her studio / private restaurant / cafe / food residency in Kyoto. Developing new outlets to collaborate sustainable food/culture/art/design locally and internationally.

□ Film Director／Hiroo Ninomiya [YAN, Food Caravan Project]

Hiroo Ninomiya was born in Nara. After studying lacquer art work under Mr. Kisui Tarui, he studied Video Direction under Mr. Katsuyuki Nakata. As well as producing many documentary style videos HIroo has participated in various projects. He has held a managing role in numerous fields including business concept design, planning, creative direction and operations.

In 2011 he received a business model design award for a project for Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. Hiroo returned to video direction with a documentary series titled “Moving You.” “INSPIRING PEOPLE & PROJECTS (IPP)” was established in 2012. Followed by the founding of “CHANCE MAKER” in the same year directing numerous films.

パリで、初めてのポップアップショップを行います。

期間は５月２４日から６月１０日まで。（もう来週！）

初日が明けた次の日の５月２５日午後6時からは、輝く美しい星、

船越雅代さんを迎えてオープニングイベントを行います。

食を通して、世界と時空を自由に行き来する雅代さんが関わるプロジェクト

Nara Food Caravan の映画『An Empty Vessel』の上映会とフードインスタレーションを

行います。

とにかく素晴らしい夜になりそうです。

雅代さんは　先日京都の銀閣寺の近くに”Farmoon”をオープンしました。

あまりの美しい表現のその全てに心を打たれました。ここから放たれる新たな光が楽しみでなりません。

このタイミングで、パリで一緒に彼女と何かできるなんてとっても嬉しいです。

こんな機会を与えてくださったGalerie Kosa  に感謝しています。

そして、今回のポップアップに協力してくださった

船越雅代

”farmoon ”オーナー。Pratt Instituteでアートを専攻後、料理に表現の可能性を見出し、NYの料理学校を卒業。 Blue HillをはじめとするNYのレストランに勤めた後、ヨーロッパからアジアを放浪。オーストラリア船籍の客船のシェフとして大平洋を巡り、バリの老舗ホテルのシェフ、京都でレストランkilnの立ち上げに参加しシェフ/ディレクターを務める。文化人類学や歴史の視点から、世界各地で異文化や他民族同士の融合により生まれる食文化をリサーチ、食と映像で表現する”Food Caravan Project” 共同代表。 2018年、京都にスタジオ/ プライベートレストラン/ 喫茶 / Food residency を展開する”Farmoon”をオープン。国内外でサステナブルな食・文化・アート・デザインを融合した活動を展開中。
